The Peak District Boundary Walk circumnavigates the entire Peak District National Park. Long distance walkers may enjoy the challenge of walking all 188 miles of it in one go, but the walk has been divided into stages for those who wish to explore the Park boundary as day-long walks. Many routes are suitable for wheelchairs or buggies including the paths on the disused railway routes of the Monsal Trail, High Peak and Tissington Trails in the White Peak area and the Longdendale Trail in the Dark Peak area. These routes provide easy linear walks.

The Peak District is an upland area in England at the southern end of the Pennines. It is mostly in northern Derbyshire, but also includes parts of Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Staffordshire, West Yorkshire and South Yorkshire. An area of great diversity, it is mostly split into the Dark Peak, where most of the moorland is found and the geology is gritstone, and the limestone area of the White Peak.

The Peak District was not one of the earliest walking regions to be included on the Walking Englishman. Thus the area was overlooked for far too long. I first walked in the Peak District during the foot and mouth crisis in the 1990's when walking was banned in most areas.

Seeing Right to Roam as an opportunity to revitalise walking in the Peak District, Mr Westcott's fieldwork began with a walk over Parkhouse and Chrome Hills near Longnor - the start of a 10 month campaign and around 300 miles of walking. The walks cover the whole of the national park south of a line between Macclesfield and Chesterfield, including both the limestone of the Derbyshire Dales and gritstone country around Chatsworth and Stanton Moor. --Ashbourne News Book Description What makes walking in the south Peak District so interesting is that this is a landscape of constant change, from the annual rhythm of the farming seasons to the slower changes to land use and human activities that take place over generations.
