Carter's Unfocused, One-Track Mind: A Novel. Written by Brent Crawford. After an eventful freshman year and a disastrous summer, fifteen-year-old Will Carter returns to Merrian High none the wiser. Narrated by Nick Podehl. The year starts off pretty normally. He's back on the football field (the bench area of the field). He and his boys start a fight club to defend themselves against Scary Terry Moss, who is out of juvie and hunting Carter. And he goes to homecoming again with Amber Lee. The good news: she's really into him this year

Carter's Unfocused One-Track Mind. In his signature voice, author Brent Crawford details young Will Carter's high school struggles, this time focusing on Carter's discovery of his true passion and the sacrifices he'll need to make.

Carter's Unfocused One-Track Mind. Warning! This book accurately (and graphically) depicts teenage guys in their natural habitat.

Carter's Unfocused, One-T. has been added to your Cart. I've read the three books on "Carter", authored by Brent Crawford and enjoyed all three very much, (and I'm 76yrs old), but still remember my high school years, although they weren't quite as exciting as Carter's, plus we all seemed to be very poor. Anyway, there are plenty laughs to be had reading Mr. Crawford's three books and I would strongly recommend folks to read them.

I loved this book. I am years away from my teenage years, but Brent Crawford writes Carter exactly how I used to think in high school and that's why I can't stop reading this series. So real, and so unflinchingly funny that I had a tough time reading around my daughters...they kept making fun of me for my reactions to the book! These Carter books just get more entertaining with each new one.

The title is a bit misleading...one of the main points of the book is how Carter is able to become more focused (during his many detentions), but I know that authors often don't have control over titles, covers, etc.

I love the range of emotions Carter goes through in these books. The balance he has between his football/swimming/fight-club life vs. his drama-geek/Abby life is fully realized in this 3rd installment of the series, and it's a pleasure to see Carter is not ashamed of any part of his life. But he is written as a real 15 year old, with all of the insecurities and problems that come with that age.

Brent Crawford is a very talented writer - he just gets it right with the dialogue and actions of Carter and his friends. And he's super imaginative with the situations he puts them all in - trust me, he doesn't pull any punches either. There are tons of references to sex and many other bodily functions in this book (parents, beware of this for your early teens)...but in story context it always works and is so fun to read. There is also a major theme of loyalty throughout this book, and that rocks. But I want to emphasize the main reason I enjoyed this book - it was just...so...funny!

Mr. Crawford doesn't let ya down! This new installment is easily better than the second, and maybe even better than the first! Carter returns to high school in his sophomore year. In his way is his girlfriend Abby, Nortest (the rival high school), parties, sports, school musicals and actually getting his grades up! This book is laugh-out-loud funny and will keep you on your toes. I'm sad to hear that this series has come to an end, but readers will be satisfied by the ending of this book. Overall, it's a fantastic book and highly recommended. Mr. Crawford deserves a round of applause!

It says that the author is a guy, but it reads like it's written by a woman. Sure there is some profanity and all the guys want sex, but Carter is one whipped boy.

He plays football, but he hates football. He swims, but he hates swimming. He'd rather be in drama class or in a play. His dream is to star in a school production of RENT.

He and his 9 or 10 buddies start a fight club - not because boys like to fight, but because they're all scared of one guy who might come back to town. Who do they get to teach them to fight? Carter's gay friend from drama class.

He spends way too much time whipping his hair and chasing after a girl - yes from drama class - who may or may not be around for very long.

I guess maybe boys think and act this way today, but not any of the guys I've ever been around. I'm not saying Carter should be written as a complete jerk, but he sure is liberal for a fifteen year old boy.

The book was touching and very victorious as you would say for carter. It relates to every high schoolers experiences and what not to do and do.I love this book and I hope everyone will love it too
A big hit with my male students. They laugh and can see themselves in the same situations. They are waiting for another Carter book. The series has been met with success with the boys.
