by Don Kauchak (Author), Paul Eggen (Author). I have always really liked the Kauchak and Eggen text and web-based resources. This text works well because it introduces the major topics that students need to be considering as they prepare for teaching. ISBN-13: 978-0133386110. Why is ISBN important? ISBN. The 13-digit and 10-digit formats both work. Good overall coverage and good ideas for discussion and thinking about issues. Sharon Teets, Carson-Newman College.

The textbook has changed a lot in the fourth edition. Do not buy this text to take a course that uses the fourth edition or vice versa. It will be incompatible. On its own merits, this text is fairly acceptable. However, the online companion for the new text does not come with the textbook only the DVD and access to the old online companion which is a totally different site with substantially different information. Also, the fourth edition text does not come with the companion site access code unless this is specifically stated. Be sure to check thoroughly. Separate from the text, this access currently costs $31.50. Both texts rely heavily on use of the online resources, so it would be in your best interest to have access to the online companion for your text edition if you will be using the text for a class and the DVD if your class uses the third edition. Also, as I said before, there have been a lot of changes for the fourth edition, this also applies to the online companion. The videos that are included on the fourth edition companion site (There is no fourth edition DVD.) are not all the same as the ones available on the third edition DVD. Be sure of which edition you need for your class.

I used this book during one of my college classes and again to prepare for the Praxis II Principles of Learning and Teaching. I passes on the first try and my score was higher than expected. I've also applied what I have learned with this text in other course work and teacher discussions. This book is in my bookshelf and I plan to reference it for many years to come. I'd also like to mention that it is an easy read, unlike other textbooks that tend to be dry an boring :).

The book was in really good condition. My school has a custom edition of this edition so aside from the chapters being out of order this book is perfect and it saved me 100 dollars which is great
