Everywhere the explorers traveled, they saw fascinating things. Lewis and Clark kept journals to record their discoveries.

In the mountains they got stuck in snowdrifts. Pouring rain kept them soaking wet for months at a time. Everywhere the explorers traveled, they saw fascinating things. They found 298 types of plants and animals that were previously unknown. They made maps charting the courses of rivers and sketched magnificent mountain scenery. James Cook was one of the world's greatest explorers. He commanded three missions and claimed Australia for the British. He made three voyages that took him to the Pacific Ocean, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, the Antarctic and Arctic. James Cook was good at mathematics, science and astronomy. Cook was born in England in 1728. In his youth he joined the British Navy and became a sailor. The British sent him to Canada where he commanded a ship during the French and Indian War. There he showed he was a good cartographer and mapped the coast of Newfoundland.

James Mayer was an alien from another dimension who had integrated himself into the Torchwood team. Fail-safes were in place to remind them of their true nature in case of damage or other failure. However, this failed with James.
