Typically beautiful Eric Carle book. Lots of quotes and colorful dragons. It is a rather fragile softcover so may tear easily if little ones want to get a close look at the beautiful illustrations. When we bought it our 5 year old wasn't reading much at all but the illustrations engaged him and he would look through it often. Now he's a strong reader and still goes back to that book often. Definitely worth owning if your kid is into dragons and other fun creatures. One person found this helpful.

He jerked awake to see the barge master kicking him. We’re here, the man said, pulling at the ends of his moustache. Come help me tie of. .Erik looked around quickly. the barge, moving to and fro with heavy, thick ropes. They yelled to some others who had already made it to the river bank and were busy wrapping the ropes around thick timbers stuck deep in the ground. The barge master dropped a chain into Erik’s lap. This is for the gang plank, he said. The man pointed to the gang plank and Erik quickly got up to help.
