Between the pages of this book I found three letters addressed to H. B. Tristram-two from Lyell and one from . 5 J. W. Clark and T. M. Hughes, The Life and Letters of the Reverend Adam Sedgwick, Cambridge, 1890. Tristram-two from Lyell and one from Sedgwick. These letters, as far as I know, have never been published. The name of Tristram does not occur in Life, letters and journals of Sir Charles Lyell,2 books on Lyell by T. G. Bonney3 and E. Bailey,4 and in Life and letters of Sedgwick. 5 Thus the publication of these letters may be of historical interest. 6 F. S. Bodenheimer, 'H.
