Clan Stewart (Gaelic: Stiùbhart) is a Highland Scottish clan. The clan is recognised by Court of the Lord Lyon; however, it does not have a Clan Chief recognised by the Lord Lyon King of Arms. Because the clan has no chief it can be considered an armigerous clan; however, the Earls of Galloway are now considered to be the principal branch of this clan, and the crest and motto of The Earls of Galloway's arms are used in the Clan Stewart crest badge.
Stewart Ross is entirely Scots. Richard Brassey and Stewart Ross have come up with a beautifully illustrated and well written book that will spark your child's imagination and allow them to learn lots of great things about Scottish history. This is a great addition to our book collection. He is an ex-teacher, and the author of many books for children on historical subjects, and of four popular books on aspects of Scottish history for adults. He is currently working on THE OXFORD BOOK OF THE TWENTIETH CENTURY (OUP) and THE YOUNG TELEGRAPH COUNTDOWNTO THE MILLENNIUM.

Scotland, in particular, is an outstanding example, where mostly medieval castles can be seen in their full glory, often surrounded by the untamed and rugged Scottish landscape. Many have been famously featured in films and TV shows, and while some are known across the world, others are much more off the beaten path and can be an unexpected surprise. Set in a picturesque highland landscape on a small island which is enclosed by three sea lochs – Loch Alsh, Loch Duich, and Loch Long.
Clan Stewart History
Clan Stewart History. The Stewart family records its traditional descent from Banquo, Thane of Lochaber, who makes an appearance as a character in William Shakespeare’s MacBeth. Historically, however, the family appears to be descended from an ancient family who were senechals of Dol in Brittany. They acquired lands in England after the Norman conquest and moved to Scotland when David I ascended to the throne of Scotland.
