Dr Peter Cochrane (born 15 April 1950- ) is an Australian historian and writer. Cochrane published two books in 2001, a history of the National Library of Australia and "Australians at War" a companion book to an Australian Broadcasting Corporation series of the same name. Early life and career. Cochrane was born in Melbourne in 1950.

Peter has since contributed to hundreds of books, predominantly on historical subjects, including many Osprey titles. Australia took advantage of its after the Vietnam War.
