I know that when you buy a Mills and Boon, you are not expecting literature but even so there have to be standards. I've read 10 books by this author and never expected that she'd have written something so poor. I don't usually comment on grammar unless the story is awful and I begin to see every weakness and this is what happened here. However I began noticing the extremely poor writing before I became annoyed by the story, which I think might be a first for me.

There are 17 chapters in the book and in all of them the main characters are described speaking 'tautly' or 'hardly' or 'harshly' or 'mockingly'. Every time there is a quote by one of the characters there is an additonal adverb, which in this book is very negative. I'm no English scholar so if I noticed this then you have to know that it's completely overdone.

I read M & B for the romance and I found it hard to buy into this one because of the tone of the communication between the two for 98% of the book. I see that this book was first published 10 years ago and I have to assume that the author improved a lot since this book was published.

My advice? Give this one a miss
