Frank Hagan's Research Methods in Criminal Justice and Criminology, Fifth Edition, is a classic in its field. The new edition continues the tradition of featuring both standard and contemporary examples of research in criminal justice and criminology. In addition to learning how to do it, readers are also exposed to a rich variety of actual research studies. This focus on criminal justice and criminology sets this book apart from many competitors. Features two chapters on statistics that may be included or skipped depending on course emphasis. Pedagogy includes chapter summaries to emphasize key points; key concepts; and review questions to stimulate critical thinking. Numerous examples throughout (and especially Ch. 8) of applied criminal justice research in the form of crime analysis. This is one of the hottest areas in Police Administration. Expanded coverage of Internet resources (including Virtual Reality Computer Simulations) in the courtroom, and the Automated Pin Mapping (Geographic Information Systems), Statement Analysis, and the FBI Freedom of Information Act Web page. For anyone interested in research Methods in Criminology and Criminal Justice.
