That's certainly how authors Erich Origen and Gan Golan feel: The parallel came into sharp relief as they read the beloved picture book Don't Let Pigeon Drive the Bus! to their own children. From the satirical masterminds behind the "New York Times" best-seller "Goodnight Bush "(more than 125,000 copies sold) comes this scathingly funny political parody of the contemporary children's classic "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! " As any left-leaning parent of small children will tell you, these days it seems like the Republican Party is taking its tactical and. ideological cues from a screaming, mid-tantrum toddler.

Goodnight Trump: An Unauthorised Parody is a board book for adults by NYT best-selling author Erich Origen and Gan Golan. Very much in the style of Goodnight Moon, in the very classy room sits Donald, looking very much the spoiled child so many believe him to be, surrounded by all the elements of his presidency.

From the satirical masterminds behind the New York Times best-seller Goodnight Bush (more than 125,000 copies sold) comes this scathingly funny political parody of the contemporary children's classic Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!  As any left-leaning parent of small children will tell you, these days it seems like the Republican Party is taking its tactical and ideological cues from a screaming, mid-tantrum toddler. That's certainly how authors Erich Origen and Gan Golan feel: The parallel came into sharp relief as they read the beloved picture book Don't Let Pigeon Drive the Bus! to their own children. In this wildly funny (and uncannily spot-on) spoof, Origen and Golan take on the Republican political machine, represented here by a cartoonish, hyper-conservative vulture, who wants nothing more than to drive the bus (even though he secretly hates public transit); give rides to his top hat-wearing, white male cronies; and run over as many "socialists," environmentalists, and public employees as he can find. Timed to coincide with the 2012 presidential election, this witty and hilarious satire turns over-the-top Republican antics into fun-loving political child’s play. But, like most children’s books and their parodies, it also comes with a liberal dose of warning if we, the reader (…and the people), don’t heed the call: If you don't want to get thrown under it, then please...Dont' Let the Republican Drive the Bus!

I believe the purpose of government is to do things for the Public Good.

There are plenty of people and businesses that cater to the very private good, but few who care about the Public Good.

Take the vulture in this picture book. He is dressed up in a parody of Uncle Sam so he looks patriotic. He hates the Public Good. He hates the government. However, he wants to drive the bus anyways.

He is standing in for the Pigeon in Mo Mullins' books and represents Republican candidates. He stands for the last 50 years of Republican leaders. Most of the Republican platforms are quoted by the vulture. When he is done with the bus, it is a wreck.

This book was originally published before the 2016 election yet it is amazingly prescient. That is because the same old things happen every time voters let a Republican drive the bus. The voters never learn.

Accurate spoof on republicans. Hard to believe it was published in 2012. Just as timely today. Of course only democrats will appreciate it. Not for kids. I'm a huge fan of the real pigeon books. The drawings here are so authentic.

I love this book. I bought it for my son but since he's a toddler, I probably just bought it for myself. Great parody
Black_Hawk_Down
This book is hysterical! It's just over the head of the kids, so they don't know why we are entertained when reading it to them. Certainly recommend to anyone who isn't a fan of the political crap in today's world.

Already agreed with the basic points made by this cute book, but it was inexpensive enough to enjoy once. Gave it to a relative to enjoy, and haven't seen it since.
Erthai
Witty book that captures the reader because it’s so funny. Great for kids to be honest! Great read seriously! Try it!

This is a clever and very funny book that attacks the current Republican view of the world. It is the perfect gift for any Democrat you love or any Republican you don't. Buy a copy for dramatic reading at your extended family holiday dinner. It will be a great conversation starter.
You could tell this book was going to be one-sided by the title but its concept was still funny. At some points the humor was a bit dry though. Definitely overpriced.
