To millions of needle workers, Erica Wilson is America's First Lady of stitchery. Her television series and books brought her fame on both sides of the Atlantic. She opened her first store in Nantucket, which remains a "must visit" attraction for the past 45 years. A graduate of the Royal School of Needlework in London, Erica was invited to teach in the United States in 1954. She became the exclusive designer for a national kit manufacturer, designed sheets, fabrics and wallpaper, wrote a bi-weekly syndicated column and became the spokesperson for a national organization teaching needlework. She produced four videos on needlepoint, quilting, knitting and cross stitch.

The photos are lovely, and the patterns could still be worn with a little updating (remember mutton sleeves?) The less-experienced knitter might consider this book as an "inspirational book" in that it would encourage the knitter to stretch their abilities.

Particularly interesting and unique are the author's instructions regarding how to embroider a knitted piece. They are the best and most thorough I've ever seen, and would likely produce the most professional-looking results.

This is a knitting resource worth adding to your knitting library.

Thank you Ms. Erica Wilson for your book. This book has simple pen and ink drawing of illustrations of how to knit which makes it easy to show to beginner knitters because of the large size of the picture. This is one of my favorite knitting book and I will always be thankful to the author Ms. Erica Wilson for sharing her knowledge of knitting.

I have all her embroidery books, and really love this knitting one. She always brings a fresh eye and has helpful advice for helping you adapt your ideas as well as giving specific instructions for products. Illustrations are clear and attractive.

Not for beginners.
I love Mercedes
This is one of the most beautiful knitting books I've encountered, but it seems not to be well known. There are all kinds of details about finishing touches and short-cuts that are rarely found in a book that is accessible to a beginner. The sweater designs are unusually attractive and are of the kind that should appeal to people who are also fond of embroidery. (I bought my copy through Amazon a while ago but noticed that this book is out of print and there were no reviews.)

I am having a ball trying these patterns. I have been knitting for a very long time but had gotten in a rut knitting the same thing over and over. This has definitely gotten me out of my rut.

I bought this book for one pattern and love them all, well written with very good pictures. Ready to start knitting.
i am looking for a knitting pattern book, soft-back, from the 1960s.

on the cover i believe there is a photo of a dark-haired baby in a knitted onesy. i started several items in the book, hit a snag (i can knit. i cannot correct my errors.), and put each item aside. if anyone has that knitting book - it contains a series of sweaters, bankets, caps, and the like for infants or 1-3 year olds, please contact Amazon to get in touch with me.

many thanks
