Sandra Ingerman is a wonderful shamanic teacher and healer, best known for her groundbreaking book "Soul Retrieval" and her more recent "Medicine for the Earth." She also made a remarkable debut as a novelist with "A Fall to Grace" and I hope she will create more in this vein. The narrative unfolds as a series of dreams within dreams. The protagonist ("C.Alexandra") leaves her body on an operating table under anesthesia and travels through various portals to many locales in nonordinary reality, meeting a series of guides, tests and initiations.
This is a story of initiation, and true initiation poses fierce tests. C is told by her most eloquent guide, a tree man about three feet tall, "It would not be an initiation if you thought you were going to live through it."
The transits between states of consciousness and reality in "A Fall to Grace" are a vivid depiction of multiple levels of dreaming. C falls asleep in another reality and wakes in a world even farther from the one where she left her body. She falls through her reflection in water into yet another reality, or goes through a mirror in an enchanted castle.
Sometimes she slips into the dream of someone else - for example, a Japanese woman. She realizes, "My dream is transporting me to another's experience." C meets many guides and gatekeepers: a brown-skinned Isis and an initially unfriendly Lao Tzu, the little tree man and the tiger, the Virgin of Guadalupe and a three-headed giant anaconda that can only be pacified by a clear statement of intention. Her soul journey takes her all the way to a place before incarnation, a place of light and of soul remembering, before she is able to return to the body and find it healed without surgery. This is a book for dreamers, and I highly recommend it.

A Fall To Grace by Sandra Ingerman is a thoughtful tale of a woman named C Alexandra who discovers that the believing in power of her spirit not only helps her anchor who she truly who is but also helps her to draw the strength within her own spiritual light during both good and challenging times. One must have an open mind to enjoy this story because the book touches on astral body travel and journeys to other non-physical worlds in an astral body form. Additionally, there is a controversial story element of C. Alexandra getting involved (during her spiritual journeys to other worlds) with a man named Etienne (he at least admits to her that he cannot commit to her beyond a casual love affair but that is partially because he is also already involved with someone else). There are other controversial elements to this otherwise gripping story that cultivate why this story is called A Fall To Grace.

Phenomenal! If you can let yourself just go with the protagonist's shamanic journey and not let your "grown up" constant critic sabotage your delight in mythic fiction, you will catch yourself feeling like you have come home to your forgotten soul self by the end of the book. I rarely read fiction except for children's literature but I'm glad I made an exception for this. Treat yourself - read and enjoy.

I absolutely loved every page of this book.

If you read it from the point of a NDE (near death experience), it was so close to my experience that it took my breath away. Obviously the 'people' Sandra met were different from my own experience, but the messages were so close.

If you read it from a deeper level of retrieving your lost parts to make yourself whole, the advice and experience was wonderful and on the mark.

If you take it even deeper, it is like going home!

Thank you Sandra.A Fall to Grace

Sandra Ingerman tells about the journeying process into nonordinary reality where spirit helpers assist in the spirit's awakening. It's fictional format allowed me to go along for the ride as the observant witness. Sandra's vast amount of knowledge and experience shine through this tale.
