I liked the title of this little book, so I got it to see if it was as clever as it suggested it might be. It was.

I can't think of a better way to get children--particularly little boys--to learn their "ABC's" than this delightful little book. The imaginative illustrations feature all sorts of pirates, pirate possessions and pirate haunts that will catch a child's eye immediately, and the ingenious rhyming story will make remembering what letter goes with what sound much easier.

This would make a wonderful first book for a child's starter library; it's nicely bound and sturdily constructed. It would certainly make a nice addition to a school or public library. With a simple illustration board to show a group of listeners the individual letters, it would be a fun and educational book for a volunteer reader to recite in a children's corner in a bookstore, library, or museum that caters to children.

I will give one to my nephews and one to my great-niece, keep some on hand for gifts for the new Moms I work with to get started with their children's reading programs, one to the day surgery admissions unit where I work a few hours a week for the children admitted for surgerical proceedures. (especially eye surgery patients, because kids REALLY HATE those eye drops; and I think a pirate alphabet book might get them passed the experience better than just about anything else a nurse could do.) And of course one for me.

Great illustrations in this book. Bought it for my niece and nephew who are learning how to spell. It's a very entertaining book.

I love this book! What a delightful read! The illustrations are fantastic! I have this book and read it to a classroom of first grade students and they loved it. They were so excited about the pirate's adventure and all the fun illustrations. They wanted me to read it again. I would have if we had not run out of time. There is so much to see in the illustrations and the kids love to learn about the pirates.

One of my favorite parts of the book, as an adult, is the Pirate's Vocabulary at the back of the book. With each letter there is a list of pirate words that appear in the story. At the back of the book you may look up the words you don't know and find their meaning. Kid's can do this, too, and it helps them learn vocabulary words. Awesome! The kids also loved to hear about what the words mean. (Their favorite was the Poop Deck: A deck at the stern (back) of a ship.)

This book is GREAT! My two-year-old son is uber into pirates and this book does a GREAT job at identifying all sorts of pirate-related items which correlate to each letter of the alphabet. Some items may not be familiar to some parents (such as doubloons), so the author has a glossary in the back which defines the words used in this book! It is super educational for children and parents alike! This hearty Pirate Wench gives this book an enthusiastic Arrr Matey!

I have been reading this book to my [...]little boy. He hasn't been overly anxious to learn his alphabet until this book came along! He loves the pictures and I have learned a thing or two about pirates! My [...] daughter joined us this evening and in the middle of the book commented, "Mom, this is really cool. It isn't like one of those stupid, A is for apple alphabet books". Thanks for reinventing the standard alphabet book!

I love all the cool stuff I have learned about Pirates, even my little sister and I can stand to read it together and my mom uses funny voices when she reads Pirate's Alphabet to us! (Tyler 6 and Sydney 4)
WOW!!! What a great book to read with your children. My child is getting ready to graduate from K-5 so reading is very new to her. She is doing well with the process so far and has an avid love for books. When we read this one, she couldn't wait to turn the next page to see what happened. Thanks for taking the time to reach children as well as the adults. This book was written and illustrated well. Kudos to both Patti & Kit for a job well done!!! Keep them coming!
