by Robert N. Munsch,Michael Martchenko

Written by Robert Munsch. Illustrated by Michael Martchenko. Published by Annick Press, 1985.

Written by Robert Munsch. Mortimer was the first story I ever made up. I made it up way back in 1971 when I was a student teacher at Wellesley College Child Studies Nursery School. The teacher said to me one day: Bob Munsch, It’s your turn to do circle time. So I made up a story about a little boy who didn’t like to go to bed. He yelled, Clang, clang, rattle-bing-bang – I gave all the kids noise makers so that when it came time to make noise they made an incredible racket.

Robert Munsch is one of North America's best-selling children's authors. Michael Martchenko has illustrated more than 40 books for children and has exhibited his work throughout North America. He has won awards for design and illustration.

I am so mad about this book! I have owned this book in the past and my children loved it. I ordered it to read to my grandson and maybe to his PreK class. When the book came today it is about 3 inches by 3 inches. I was expecting it to be normal size. I am so disappointed.

I remember reading this as a kid, fantastic book and you and the kiddos can sing along. Although moms might complain it's too much excitement before bed. And my 7 year old adds it's funny too.

This is one of the funniest books by the funniest author for kids! last year my Pre-K class acted it our for graduation. This year i bought a copy to donate to my son's kindergarten and 2 more for birthday gifts. So fun to read alous, especially if you're like me and love books that involve singing.

I love this story but the book is tiny...its only 3 inches by 3 inches so if you are looking for a book to put on a bookshelf this is NOT it. It should be listed as a miniature book and not sold like a regular size one.

We like some of his other books, and this was seems good at first, but I don't love some of the story line...police come to his room and look very scary. It's quite an odd book, to be honest. I wouldn't buy again.

I didn't notice that this book is tiny--3.5 X 3.5. My 2 year old grandson doesn't get very excited about tiny books.
The child loves this story and her mom reads it with distinctive sounds and song, over and over and over again.
