Mary Pope Osborne, Salvatore Murdocca (Illustrator). Peacocks for dinner and boys in skirts? That's what Jack and Annie find when the Magic Tree House whisks them back to the Middle Ages for another wild adventure. I read this to my six year old and he absolutely loved it. My three year old also sat through the story with us and she loved it as well, though she did have a few questions. She had a harder time understanding the story.

SAL MURDOCCA has illustrated over 200 children’s trade and textbooks. She is completely engrossed by the Magic Treehouse series and squealed "More Mary Pope Osborne books!" when I gave her her last set. Every once in a while there is a "scary bit" that we need to discuss briefly, but on the whole, it's a safe choice for the youngest of independent readers. Be careful, though - once they're hooked on the first set, they want ALL the books!

My 8 year old daughter loves this book. I have been trying to get her to use her imagination, and she's always telling me she can't picture in her mind what she is reading or what I read to her. Ever since she started reading this book, she keeps saying "I can picture in my mind what this is saying! I can't put this book down!" It makes me happy to hear her say this. It has really captivated her.

This was my 7-year-old’s first chapter book that he actually wanted to read AND finished reading! Simple story and comprehension for a first grader. Short, easy to read chapters that kept his interest. He read the whole book in one weekend! And this boy doesn’t exactly choose to spend his free time reading. I’m one proud mama! We are getting ready to order Book 4 from the series soon.

My five year old is loving the Magic Tree House series. We read up to five chapters each day. We could probably read the whole book but I like to leave some wonder and anticipation for what happens next. It builds the imagination. I'm building up his collection so he can 1- eventually read them to me and 2- so he can pass them down to his younger brothers.

One of the great things about the Magic Tree House series is that it illustrates historical fiction. Children learn interesting facts based in history while they enjoy the stories.

My nine year old really enjoys these books! He can read them quickly and doesn't feel overwhelmed because it's not too thick. Great book to start working on book reports with.
Ironrunner
The book is bent and torn. It does not look new. The material made to use the book and cover are thin-- kind of like newspaper. It seems very cheaply-made.

Love these books. If you child likes a new adventure this book is for them. The book is of good quality and perfect reading material for a 2nd grader.
Great book! My son's first chapter book experience! He was so proud of himself because he was able to read it all by himself! Took him a week but he's more the play-outside kind of kid rather than a stay-in-and-read kid.
