The Wide-Mouthed Frog (A Pop-Up Book) e-book

by Keith Faulkner

My 4 y old son loves this book: he takes his playmobil little men and puts them in the mouth of the frog, in the beck of the bird, he runs away from crocodile.

Each spread features a different animal describing its meal of choice, including a blue-feathered bird (worms and slugs), a furry brown mouse (seeds and berries) and, finally, ominously, a big, green alligator. My 4 y old son loves this book: he takes his playmobil little men and puts them in the mouth of the frog, in the beck of the bird, he runs away from crocodile. It's a very simple book, but can be used for role play.

The Wide-mouthed Frog book

The Wide-mouthed Frog book. From the Okefenokee Swamp comes a frog with a wide mouth that he just loves to use. He’s particularly interested in the eating habits of other creatures found in the great outdoors–that is, of course, until he comes upon a big green one with lots of teeth who finds wide-mouthed frogs simply delicious.

Great book, I really like the pop ups on the animals, but it wasn't much of a story. Overall a good purchase.

I have the privilege and joy of reading every month to 3-5 year old Head-Start children. They LOVE this book and the teachers seem to enjoy it just as much as the kids. I exaggerate the frog's voice -- like he's a loud, bragging, silly frog. So when he gets real quiet after meeting the alligator who loves to eat wide-mouthed frogs, I make the frog's voice quiet and my mouth real small -- right before he leaps into the water to get away from the alligator. The pop-up illustrations are wonderful -- especially the large splash into the water on the last page. I never get tired of reading it, and the kids and teachers never seem to get tired of hearing it. So much fun!

A simple story about a wide-mouthed frog who jumps around and talks to other animals, and then is afraid that is going to be eaten by a crocodile. My 4 y old son loves this book: he takes his playmobil little men and puts them in the mouth of the frog, in the beck of the bird, he runs away from crocodile. It's a very simple book, but can be used for role play. A success for me, as my kid keeps taking it out of the pile and brings it over to be read periodically. the first weeks after he received it, he asked me read it multiple times every night.

My kindergarten class adores this book. They made me read it 3 times! I feel like for the ones complaining about how the story line isn't good try changing the way you read it. I asked many questions and added the colors of the animals and added dramatics. I love this book!

Great book, it’s a quick read before bedtime. This book is a little more delicate than other pop up books. The pop ups themself have amazing detail and are quite large. The last page is my absolute favorite. Maybe I’d recommend for slightly older children, 2-3years plus, because the pages and pop ups are on the delicate side.

This pop-up is easy for a young child to handle -- without ruining the pop-ups as he turns the pages. Great for oral reading to young child; would recommend the parent pre-read the book to know when to use appropriate facial expressions.

I teach 1st grade and I think I read this book at least 50 times over one weeks time! My kids loved it and I loved it too. If you hold the book just right and wiggle the covers gently you can even make the animals mouths look like they are moving! So fun! I didn't let my students get their hands on it though...Pop up books never last very long in a class room...but the book is large enough that everyone could see it easily when I held it up. My husband even liked it!
Fun pop ups and colorful. Bought for my 2 yr old granddaughter. We have to really watch her or she will tear pages. I should have waited a year or two but she will grow into reading it by herself. Would purchase again for a little older child.
