I ordered a brand new book and received a used one. The company mailed another one to replace first book but second book also had some writings in it. It also took a long time for the book to arrive. By the time I received the second one, I only had one day to read the whole book to get ready for my presentation.

This books is a must for new and middle-level women managers. For the newbies, it provides insight into the dynamics of challenges women face in the workplace. For middle-level managers, it is a reminder of the things you forgot (or didn't know in the first place) and helpful in breaking bad habits you initially picked up in your early years. As a former HR Exec, I would provide the book during company orientation to women who are entering management.

"Hit the Ground Running" is valuable resource for the professional woman. Liz Cornish's practical, real-world case scenarios provide clear, concise, strategies for handling common issues that every working woman faces on a daily basis. This book provides the entry level professional with the tools to jump start the climb up the corporate ladder and will help the seasoned professional fine tune skills needed to meet challenges with ease.

Cornish has done a terrific job distilling the complexities of a challenging new assignment into clear priorities and actions to be taken. Without being simplistic, she makes a formidable and sometimes confusing landscape seem navigable and exciting. Practical and well-organized, this is a must read.

While written for women, men will find much of this material relevant as well.

Loved the format! It's easy to read. You can just flip through the pages and pick up a lot of useful, relevant info. I'm not a "self-help book" person, but make the exception with this one. If you are new to any leadership challenge, it's worth reading. By the way, don't let the by-line fool you....it is a leadership book.

I was skeptical at first, thinking Hit the Ground Running would be too generic for my unique situation in healthcare. However, Cornish does a great job of getting beyond broad concepts to the "do this, think about that and watch out for this" practicalities. It doesn't replace good judgement, but it will save you from wasting time or making stupid "take charge" mistakes.

This book is the best pratical guide to professional success and achievement I have ever read--bar none. Liz Cornish looks at the real challenges facing women in leadership positions and provides them specifics for step by step success. Every woman going into (or already in) a leadership position should read this book.
Over the least 20 years, I've worked with hundreds of new leaders. Sure wish I'd had this top-notch resource all along. It's full of great advice across different leadership levels and industry, but best for middle management or the director level.
